Just like any other beauty procedure, there are a few things that you need to take care of so your lips will have the best outcome!
The colour of your semi-permanent makeup procedure will be 50% darker immediately after the treatment. Do not worry, it will start to get lighter within 4-10 days after your service. This is perfectly normal, and the true healed colour will take about 4-6 weeks to weeks to fully develop.
In some cases, it can look like the semi-permanent makeup pigment has disappeared, which is due to the healing layers of the skin obscuring the colour temporarily. If this happens, you must wait for it to develop and avoid having any further permanent cosmetics work carried out during the 4-6 week period.
Your skin will be temporarily sensitized after the treatment and you should adhere to the following instructions for the next seven (7) days. This will help avoid infection and will allow time for the skin to recover.
WHAT TO EXPECT
You can cleanse the treatment area two or three times a day if needed, using warm water, and a lint free wipe.
Clients who have been prescribed an antibiotic cream should follow the instructions of their medical practitioner.
Apply aftercare ointment with a clean cotton swab only (not your fingers) for the first 2-3 days.
Keep the area moist at all times with a hydrating lip balm (Blistex, Burt’s Bees, Chapstick) during the healing process..
It is normal for the colour to fade during the two weeks following the treatment.
WHAT NOT TO DO:
During the post treatment period, please avoid the following:
Spicy and salty food
Kissing
Using soaps, cleansers, creams or makeup on the treated area
Facial treatments, waxing and using any form of bleach
Any abrasive products, rough towels or similar
DO NOT TOUCH or PICK the small scabs that may appear after the treatment. Let them slough off naturally, otherwise you may disrupt the pigment retention.
Taking hot baths, saunas, steam, swimming pools, salt water, and any direct shower spray on the treated area. If the area does get wet, just pat it dry with a facial tissue.
You may shower or bathe normally, but avoid getting any soaps, shampoos or other cleansers on the treated area for the first five days as this can be detrimental to the bonding process that must take place for the pigment to stabilize in the dermis.
ONCE HEALED
Exposure to the sun over time can cause fading and discoloration of the pigment. Once completely healed, you may apply lip cream with SPF on the treated area.
Glycolic acid, microdermabrasion, and chemical face peel products must be kept away from the tattooed area as continued use could lighten the pigment
If you area having laser resurfacing or laser hair removal after your tattoo has healed, please inform the laser technician about your lip blush treatment. Proceed at your own discretion. Laser procedures may darken, lighten or discolor the tattoed area.
Once the treated area is completely healed, any changes or additions that need to be made can be done at your follow-up appointment no sooner than 6-8 weeks later.
Should an infection occur, seek medical attention.
